Fiscal Cliff: Let’s Make A Deal

The solution to the problems in America’s economy, finances, debt, and obligations is certainly NOT for the Federal Government to have more money and control — as if, under Barack Obama’s claim, you just hive him another $100 Billion more per year, all our problems will be solved.

Under Clinton, yes, taxes were higher, but spending was 18% of GDP instead of the current 25% of GDP. THAT h/t http://www.yourcpapartners.com/is why the budget was (closed to being) balanced… …along with the whole of the Congress and President knowing that Newt Gingrich was willing to take the Nuclear Option and shut down the Federal Government.

So, to solve our problems, a true leader, a true conservative/libertarian would introduce legislation and vote to reduce the amount of money taken out of the economy by the Federal Government and reduce the amount of our labors the Federal Government spends.

It’s simple common sense… …that is so uncommon these days.

So, why would any Republican, the party of Fiscal Responsibility, bring legislation to the floor and vote to increase taxes and spending?

There is only one answer:

They care more about their future as a legislator than they do about what’s best for America.

So, when they vote to increase your taxes and increase the money going to the government and increase spending (while calling it deficit reduction), you know that that person is not working for you and the betterment of America.  They are callously voting to ensure their own future is bright at the expense of yours.

Maybe you ought to vote ‘no’ this time when they tell you they are the true conservative/libertarian but their votes show they are not.

It Is Time To Unseat Mrs. Emerson From The US House Of Representative.

An Article by David Larson, Jackson, MO:

Representative Jo Ann Emerson needs to worry about her chances in the August 2012, Republican primary.  Of the 103 votes cast in the concluding straw poll at the Cape County Tea Party Candidate Forum on July 17, 2012, Mrs. Emerson received the support of seventeen or 16.5% of those who voted.  Mrs. Emerson did not make an appearance nor did she send someone from her staff to speak at the event.  This speaks volumes to her concerns of the folks who elected her to represent the 8th Congressional District.

On the other hand, Mr. Bob Parker garnered eighty-four of the 103 votes simply by attending and expressing his views to the people present at the Forum.  To put this in terms of percentage, it was 79.6% of the votes cast.

This was a huge difference in support of one candidate over the other.  Mr. Parker, one might conclude, demonstrated his concern for the folks he may someday represent in the US House of Representatives.

The following quote is taken from the Matt Kibble’s book Hostile Takeover: Resisting Centralized Government’s Stranglehold on America, Chapter 5.

  • “Those in power are not only pushing back against the liberation of individual preferences seen elsewhere in society; they are pushing back hard against anyone who wants to be let inside the castle gates, anybody who wants to be part of the process of deciding.  Ensconced inside, the political class seems to be looking down from the castle turrets at the rest of America.
  • Their disdain is palpable.
  • They see unwashed rubes, amateurs who could not possibly understand the complexities of governance.  We are just too simple to understand, not quite smart enough to take care of ourselves on the big issues of the day.  They, the experts have drawn a line in the sand that you, a stakeholder in the American Enterprise, shall not pass.”

Josh Haynes, senior staffer with Emerson’s campaign, was quoted in the Southeast Missourian on July 20, 2012, Emerson fliers attack Parker on drug, terror stances:

“Parker’s logic is flawed and shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how the federal government works.”

As a senior staffer of Team Emerson Campaign, Mr. Haynes words speak directly to the core values of Mrs. Emerson.  From the two quotes above it does not take a “member of the political class” to connect the dots of Mrs. Emerson’s feelings for her employer, the voters in the 8th Congressional District.  One might surmise Mrs. Emerson is a “Washington Insider” (a member of the House of Representatives since 1996) feeling she knows what is best for the people in the her District no matter how the majority in her District feel about a “big issue.”  Sometimes her votes reflect the views’ of the District and sometimes not.  Mrs. Emerson could better serve her constituents by following this guiding Principle of Liberty, “The God-given right to govern is vested in the sovereign authority of the whole people.”

Mrs. Emerson’s surrogates want to link Mr. Parker to a fringe libertarian group, NORML.  The campaign should not go there.  Mrs. Emerson has donated to the campaign of one of the most vile, divisive, “hate speech mongering” member of Congress and the Democratic Party Chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz.  All one has to do is follow this link

http://www.fec.gov/finance/disclosure/norindsea.shtml

Type in Emerson Jo Ann, press Get Listing and look for 29935452666.

It is a document on the Federal Election Commission’s website.  It shows Mrs. Emerson as a donor to the Wasserman-Schultz for Congress 2010 US House of Representative Primary campaign in the amount of $218.50.

It is time to unseat Mrs. Emerson from the US House of Representative.

One Thing Jo Ann Emerson and Barack Obama Have In Common…

…both are running away from their records in Washington, DC.

h/t wikipedia.orgSadly, that’s not the only thing.

Like Obama’s attack on Bain Capital, Emerson’s campaign is disingenuously attacking her opponent over a comment regarding the failed Federal war on drugs.  So, you have to ask the following question:

“Does Bob Parker advocate that laws should be changed such that residents of MO-8 can go out and buy marijuana for recreational use?”

No one in Emerson’s Campaign could honestly answer ‘yes’.  The Staff knows it’s not true.  Jim Limbaugh (Emerson’s Treasurer) knows it’s not true.  Jo Ann Emerson knows it’s not true.  As an answer to my question, I would get the same mumbo-jumbo-lawyer-approved argument that they hope will keep the voters’ focus off of the real issue in this election – her record.

The votes that Jo Ann casts are the most important things she does as a member of the House; it’s her record.  So, why does Jo Ann Emerson want to keep the focus off her record?

Simple:  Far too many of her votes are on the same side as Barack Obama*

  • On TARP (the bailout of the big banks) Jo Ann Emerson voted with Barack Obama.
  • On bailing out the corrupt AIG Insurance giant, Jo Ann Emerson voted with Barack Obama.
  • On allowing the VPs and Presidents and CEOs to still get bonuses at the bailed-out banks, Jo Ann Emerson voted with Barack Obama.
  • On exposing taxpayer dollars to failing union pensions, Jo Ann Emerson co-sponsored it (to the delight of Barack Obama).
  • On Cash for Clunkers, Jo Ann Emerson voted with Barack Obama.
  • On the NDAA, that allows the government to imprison American Citizens indefinitely without trial, Jo Ann Emerson voted with Barack Obama.
  • On funding the business-crushing EPA, Jo Ann Emerson voted with Barack Obama.
  • On funding the Department of Education that centrally controls our children’s future with big-government edicts, Jo Ann Emerson voted with Barack Obama.
  • On funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion factory, Jo Ann Emerson voted with Barack Obama.
  • On funding Dodd-Frank and its business-crushing regulations, Jo Ann Emerson voted with Barack Obama.
  • On violating the 72-hour Republican promise for voting on bills, Jo Ann Emerson voted with Barack Obama.
  • After the Tea Party and millions of Americans screamed ‘NO!’ to more spending… …on raising the debt ceiling and enslaving your children to $2.4 Trillion more debt and deficit spending, Jo Ann Emerson voted with Barack Obama.

Jo Ann Emerson repeatedly votes with Barack Obama, and considering that she made these votes in the face of a renewed Conservative and Tea Party microscope, she will continue to vote with Barack Obama if she is sent back.

The Heritage Foundation* has calculated a more than disappointing 44% Conservative rating for her Congressional Votes (Todd Akin = 82%).  And, the Madison Project put her top-3 most liberal Republican voting record into their Hall Of Shame.*

True Conservative?

In a recent flyer attacking her opponent, the claim is that she is the “TRUE Conservative”.  Really?  Ask yourself these questions:

  • Would a TRUE Conservative vote to fund the EPA?
  • Would a TRUE Conservative be the Vice Chair of Center Aisle Caucus?
  • Would a TRUE Conservative be a member of the liberal Main Street Partnership?
  • Would a TRUE Conservative be the Chair of the Tuesday Group, a meeting of House liberal Republicans?
  • Would a TRUE Conservative be a Founding Member of the Bipartisan Congressional Retreat?
  • Would a TRUE Conservative vote to fund the abortion factory that is Planned Parenthood?
  • Would a TRUE Conservative donate to the vile chair of the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman Shultz?
  • Would a TRUE Conservative vote for a $2.4 Trillion increase in taxes (debt ceiling)?

Clearly the answer is ‘No’ for each of these questions, yet your conservative Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson voted or is responsible for each of the items above.

Defending Jo Ann Emerson = Defending Barack Obama:

Would a TRUE Conservative stand tall in front their constituents and defend their record or hide behind semantic attacks on their opponent?  (Are we going to need a milk carton?)

You’ve seen the gotcha video of her opponent at a forum in Poplar Bluff, MO.  Have you seen grainy cell-phone video of Jo Ann Emerson being asked tough questions by 2 of her constituents at the same time in a back-and-forth forum?

No.

Why?

Because to stand in front of such a forum and defend her record on the items above, she’d have to defend many items on Barack Obama’s march-to-socialism agenda:

  • To defend her record, she’d be defending Barack Obama and her vote to fund his EPA that regulates carbon dioxide, spilled milk and ditches on our farms.
  • To defend her record, she’d be defending Barack Obama’s attacks on the unborn and her vote to fund Planned Parenthood’s baby killing machine.
  • To defend her record, she’d be defending Barack Obama and her vote to take $Billions$ from taxpayers and hand them over to insurance giant AIG.
  • To defend her record, she’d be defending Barack Obama and her Cash for Clunkers vote to support the GM / Chrysler bailout that, likely illegally, handed the companies over to the UAW.
  • To defend her record, she’d be defending Barack Obama’s big-spending-agenda and her vote to increase the national debt by $2.4 Trillion (a tax increase) that is the largest increase in the history of the nation (that’s $7,000+ of debt she voted to give to every child born in 2012).

Union Support:

If the Tea Party urged you to cross the aisle and vote for a Democrat primary candidate, obvious that candidate is the best option to vote for items on the Tea Party agenda.  Of course.

That is exactly what happened in 2010 when the IBEW Union sent a letter to their members urging them to, disingenuously,  cross the aisle vote for Jo Ann Emerson in that primary.

The letter stated, “Over the past few years, myself and other labor representatives in the area, have sought out labor friendly Republican Candidates who will support our agenda and protect the legislative safeguards such as prevailing wage, immigration laws etc. that allow us to keep a level playing field with the non-union contractors.” [Emphasis Added]

Prevailing Wage legislation is what removes the level playing field; it doesn’t create it.  In theory, unions are fine, but when they need special legislation to allow them to compete, they are not conducive to the Free Market that made this country great.  If they are so great, they should be able to compete in the Free Market w/o special legislative safeguards.

I haven’t seen a 2012 version of that letter, but I suspect, with her union pension bill co-sponsorship, the sentiment is the same as it was in 2010.

Don’t Complain:

I certainly urge everyone who reads this discussion to study the issues and vote their conscious.  This is not a diatribe against Jo Ann Emesron’s character or personality.  It is simply a look at her record on some of the most important votes of the last 4 years.

However…

  • If you do vote for Jo Ann Emerson, don’t complain about the EPA, because she will vote to fund it.
  • If you do vote for Jo Ann Emerson, don’t complain about Planned Parenthood, because she will vote to fund it.
  • If you do vote for Jo Ann Emerson, don’t complain about the National Debt, because she will vote to increase it.
  • If you do vote for Jo Ann Emerson, don’t complain about Dodd-Frank, because she will vote to fund it.
  • If you do vote for Jo Ann Emerson, don’t complain about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, because she will vote to keep it.

Summary:

You’ve heard the tired cliché that the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.  Well, in southeast Missouri, surely we are not insane.

  • If you want more of the same in Washington, more spending, more big government, more business-strangling regulation, send Jo Ann Emerson back to Washington.
  • If you want far too many of your representative’s votes to support Barack Obama’s freedom crushing agenda, send Jo Ann Emerson Back to Washington.

For real change, if you want a Constitutional Conservative for a representative, you have to change who’s there.  If you want small and limited government, you have to change who’s there.

If you want to change Washington, you have to change who’s there.

If you want to change Washington, you have to change who’s there.

If you want to change Washington, you have to change who’s there.

The only way to change Washington… …is to change who’s there.

I like Jo Ann Emerson.  She has always been very nice to me, and Jo Ann Emerson is a fine woman.  She loves her country and cares about Missouri’s 8th District.

But, if a 16-year tenure is good enough for great TRUE Conservative Missouri State Representatives and Senators like Jason Crowell, Brian Nieves, Jane Cunningham and Jim Lembke, it’s good enough for our U.S. Congressional Representatives.

As the Chairman of the Cape County Tea Party, there was one vote that was most critical to me in the 112th Congress.  Jo Ann voted to raise the debt ceiling guaranteeing that the Federal Government would deficit-spend another $2.4 Trillion.  This is nothing more than a tax increase that you, me, our children, our grandchildren will have to pay for in countless measures of reduced standard of living.

This is the primary reason (along with others noted above) that I will vote this time for a chance to bring more a conservative voting record to our district; I will be voting for Bob Parker.

(This writing reflects my personal views and may or may not reflect the members of the Cape County Tea Party)

California Realtor Indoctrination Day

This Is Our Time!

This Is Our Moment!

We Can’t Do It Without You!

Join Us!

Does that sound like something out of the Obama Election Campaign or what?!?  The only thing that is missing is the ‘Yes We Can!’

The CAR (Calif. Association of Realtors) is hosting a legislative day up in Sacramento, CA on May 2nd. Only problem is there are ONLY liberal progressive legislators who have been asked to address the group.  See the flyer (pdf) below. I signed up for this event and wrote a scathing email. See below.  I plan on attending this event. I am calling on ALL conservative Realtors to attend this event and speak out against SB375 (stack and pack housing) and AB32 (Cap and Trade) and how this is destroying our liberties and private property rights. If you can’t attend please send an email to your local board or the CAR board! Do something please!!!! If you plan on going to SAC let me know so we can meet up when we get there.

http://assets.ccartoday.com/_pdfs/flyers/legday2012_flyer.pdf

Here’s an email I sent to the local Realtors board about the upcoming lobby day in Sacramento California, May 2nd. It would be nice if other realtors would speak out too!

“I am RSVPing for the lobby day in SAC. However I am a bit confused as to why there are NO conservative legislators that will be addressing us??? Every single one of these legislators is a liberal progressive. I am extremely disappointed to see that CAR and CCAR are so obviously biased! This is a disservice to your members! I for one am extremely offended that there is no balance in this meeting! As a realtor I pay huge dues to belong to the Realtors Association and this is NOT the kind of lobby day I would expect for my money! We realtors must be non-partisan or at least provided a balanced message.”

“I would like to see you invite some conservative members of the legislature to balance this day.”

(Above received via e-mail)

I’ll bet our writer won’t be receiving the CCAR Realtor of the Year award any time soon!

Free Candy

Adapted from E-Mail:

The folks who are getting the free candy don’t like the folks who are paying for the free candy, because the folks who are paying for the free candy can no longer afford to pay for both the free candy and their own stuff.

And, the folks who are paying for the free candy want the free candy to stop.

And the folks who are getting the free candy want even more free candy on top of the free candy they are already getting!

Now… the people who are forcing the people who pay for the free candy have told the people who are RECEIVING the free candy that the people who are PAYING for the free candy are being mean, prejudiced, and racist.

So… the people who are GETTING the free candy have been convinced they need to hate the people who are paying for the free candy by the people who are forcing some people to pay for their free candy and giving them the free candy in the first place.

We have let the free candy giving go on for so long that there are now more people getting free candy than paying for the free candy.

So, who is being selfish?  The one’s sick of paying for the free candy?  Or, the ones bitching because we don’t want to pay for their free candy?

112th U.S. Congress – Missouri Delegation Report Card

Even though Heritage can sometimes be questionably conservative, here is what they are:

Founded in 1973, The Heritage Foundation is a research and educational institution—a think tank—whose mission is to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.

They recently released their unapologetic scorecard for the 112th Congress.  Below is the report card for Missouri’s U.S. Congressional Representatives.

When I went to High School in Steeleville, IL, an “A” was 94-100, a “B” was 87-93, a “C” was 77-86, and a “D” was 70-76.  For Missouri’s Congressional Delegation, no one got an “A” OR “B”, and Akin barely gets a “B” under the grading scale I faced at SEMO.edu.

  • Senator Roy Blunt – FLUNKED
  • Representative Sam Graves – FLUNKED
  • Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer – FLUNKED
  • Representative Jo Ann Emerson – FLUNKED… …not even 50%

.

(Click here for details on the study)

Now, I’m sure they all have explanations about how they voted on all the measures for which they were rated negatively.  It might be a good time to publish that reasoning for the voters to decide… …that is… if they want the votes of an informed electorate.

Federer On Thanksgiving And OWS

Thanksgiving – Pilgrims reject “Occupy Wall Street” wealth redistribution

By William J. Federerh/t https://www.embassyinstitute.org

As Thanksgiving nears, one wonders what the Pilgrims would have thought about “Occupy Wall Street” and its effort to redistribute wealth.

The Pilgrims were originally part of the Virginia Company and were ruled by a set of bylaws that set up a communal system for the first seven years.

In this system, all capital and profits remained “in ye common stock”:

“Anno: 1620. July 1. 1. The adventurers & planters do agree that every person that goeth being aged 16 years & upward…be accounted a single share

3. The persons transported & ye adventurers shall continue their joint stock & partnership together, ye space of 7 years…during which time, all profits & benefits that are got by trade, traffic, trucking, working, fishing, or any other means of any person or persons, remain still in ye common stock until ye division…

5. That at ye end of ye 7 years, ye capital & profits, viz. the houses, lands, goods and chattels, be equally divided betwixt ye adventurers, and planters

10. That all such persons as are of this colony, are to have their meat, drink, apparel, and all provision out of ye common stock & goods.

Pilgrim Governor William Bradford wrote in his Of Plymouth Plantation, that sharing everyone’s profits & benefits equally “in ye common stock,” regardless of how hard each individual worked, was a failure:

The failure of that experiment of communal service, which was tried for several years, and by good and honest men, proves the emptiness of the theory of Plato and other ancients, applauded by some of later times, – that the taking away of private property, and the possession of it in community, by a commonwealth, would make a state happy and flourishing; as it they were wiser than God.”

William Bradford continued:

“For in this instance, community of property (so far as it went) was found to breed much confusion and discontent; and retard much employment which would have been to the general benefit and comfort.

For the young men who were most able and fit for service objected to being forced to spend their time and strength in working for other men’s wives and children, without any recompense.

The strong man or the resourceful man had no more share of food, clothes, etc., than the weak man who was not able to do a quarter the other could. This was thought injustice.

The aged and graver men, who were ranked and equalized in labor, food, clothes, etc., with the humbler and younger ones, thought it some indignity and disrespect  to them.”

The women did not like this communistic plan as well, as William Bradford wrote:

“As for men’s wives who were obliged to do service for other men, such as cooking, washing their clothes, etc., they considered it a kind of slavery, and many husbands would not brook it…”

William Bradford added:

“If (it were thought) all were to share alike, and all were to do alike, then all were on an equality throughout, and one was as good as another; and so, if it did not actually abolish those very relations which God himself has set among men, it did at least greatly diminish the mutual respect that is so important should be preserved amongst them.

Let none argue that this is due to human failing, rather than to this communistic plan of life in itself. I answer, seeing that all men have this failing in them, that God in His wisdom saw that another plan of life was fitter for them.”

William Bradford also wrote:

So they began to consider how to raise more corn, and obtain a better crop than they had done, so that they might not continue to endure the misery of want.

At length after much debate, the Governor, with the advice of the chief among them, allowed each man to plant corn for his own household, and to trust themselves for that; in all other things to go on in the general way as before. So every family was assigned a parcel of land, according to the proportion of their number…

This was very successful. It made all hands very industrious, so that much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been by any means the Governor or any other could devise, and saved him a great deal of trouble, and gave far better satisfaction.

The women now went willing into the field, and took their little ones with them to plant corn, while before they would allege weakness and inability, and to have compelled them would have been thought great tyranny and oppression.”

This Thanksgiving, as we partake of the bounty that the Almighty has provided, let us not just recall the Pilgrims’ historic meal, but let us recall the economic wisdom that helped the Pilgrims to produce their bountiful harvest.
