Real Work Force – 02/28/13

Graph - General - Decreasing - 01

Previously, after the release of monthly Unemployment Data by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, I had done a couple of analyses looking at the labor force participation rate — the number of people the FedGov thinks is working versus the number of people that should be working.  After giving some further thought to the issue, it occurred to me that it still didn’t really show the true picture of employment in America.  It did not answer this question:

Ignoring all demographics, who is in the wagon versus who is pulling the wagon?

How many people are working as a percent of all the people in the United States?

.Real Work Force - 20130228 - 01 .

At the end of Clinton’s administration, over 50% of the population in America were in the labor force!  That number stayed mostly the same and then increased through through the early parts of 2007.  That percentage has decreased since the beginning of 2007 and is now down by nearly 2%.  You’re welcome to comment below as to what happened in early 2007 to turn the trend around.

In today’s numbers, that’s a reduction in 5,678,367 jobs.

Below is the percentage of change from month-to-month

If I forget to put out this analysis in future months, please remind me.  Things won’t get better in this country until millions more people are pulling the wagon!

Liberal Logic du Jour – 02/20/13

So, my Democrat friends, I understand this to be your stance:

  • A woman has the right to play Terminator with a living unborn human being
  • A woman does NOT have the right to shoot the balls off some guy that’s trying to rape her.

Got it.

I attempted to attend the Right To Work hearing in Jefferson City today.  The room was overflowing, so instead, I h/t laborunionreport.comvisited with various legislators and friends throughout the building.  As I drove back to St. Louis, lots of questions were swirling in my head.  Here they are. Read them imagining they’re being asked with all possible condescension and loathing by David Spade’s character ‘Richard’ in the movie ‘Tommy Boy’:

If unions are so great and provide such a benefit to the companies and the state at large… …why do they need a law to force employees to join the union?

Shouldn’t the employees ‘want’ to join the union?

Why do unions think that employees will leave them when the Missouri voters free the employee to make their own decision? I thought unions were so great? Shouldn’t employees still ‘want’ to stay with the unions since they are so great?

If unions are so great, why do they need to have prevailing wage laws to be able to compete for state contracts? Shouldn’t union labor costs be lower because they are so great and competitive?

Don’t the union bosses believe in the freedom of the employee to make up their own mind in deciding to join the union based on the benefits that the union can offer them? Shouldn’t the employee be allowed the freedom to choose?

And since unions are so great, the employees will certainly choose to join them, right?!?! So, there’s nothing for the union bosses to worry about and this is much ado about nothing.

I’m sure the bosses at the unions are mostly pro-choice in killing babies.  Shouldn’t they also be pro-choice in joining the union as well?

Or, did we find another prime example of hypocrisy in the Democratic ranks.

Election Fraud

Below, I received the partial list of voter fraud examples from the November 2012 Presidential Election that most of us have seen over the past few months.  This time I received the list in an e-mail from an elected official with an earnest question of what to do about it.  I’m certainly no expert, but here are the thoughts I sent in reply:

There are many reasons that we lost the election, and voter fraud was part of it — but not all of it.I saw an article go by this week that said there are groups pursuing the examples you sent. So, hopefully, some of that will be flushed out soon

I don’t see it happening, but I’m praying that top-level Republicans (working with other conservative parties like the Constitution Party / Libertarian Party / etc) will see the need for an organized project to watch every vote at every voting precinct in the nation and ensure that voter fraud is wiped out as a potential for swaying the election. It needs to be a proactive effort — not a post-election litigation effort.

We need to:

  • Organize and train poll watchers in every state / township / precinct.
  • Organize and train Republican election judges in every state / township / precinct.
  • Video cameras in each voting location to record the entire day or events of concern by the poll-watchers (even if it’s just smart phone cameras).
  • Know how many ballots are taken to each voting location
  • Know how many ballots are completed / voided / spoiled / returned from every voting location
  • Know the vote counts recorded on each electronic voter machine at each voting location (where used)
  • Prosecute to the fullest extent of the law any effort to commit voter fraud
  • Get rid of all electronic voting machines

The only thing that will wipe out voter fraud is having well-trained eyes on every voting booth the day of the election.

Plus, Brian Bollmann, a lowly chair of a county Tea Party, 3 days before an election, shouldn’t be running around begging for Republican Election Judges for the city of St. Louis.

But that all takes money, and who sees it as important enough to foot the bill?!?  It wasn’t in 2012; will it be in 2014 or 2016? I hope it will.

We will certainly continue to work to prevent voter fraud in our little corner of the world as best we can!

FWIW, I kept saying that Romney’s downfall would be that…

“Romney wouldn’t be willing to go to the mat.Obama would go to the mat.Romney wouldn’t.”

Romney had Obama down on the mat and let him back up.Too bad.

Below is the partial list of voter fraud examples that instigated the e-mail exchange:

From Bill O’Reilly’s message board:Most everyone suspected fraud, but these numbers prove it and our government and media refuse to do anything about it.As each state reported their final election details, the evidence of voter fraud is astounding. Massive voter fraud has been reported in areas of OH and FL, with PA, WI and VA, all are deploying personnel to investigate election results. Here are just a few examples of what has surfaced with much more to come.

  • In 59 voting districts in the Philadelphia region, Obama received 100% of the votes with not even a single vote recorded for Romney. (A mathematical and statistical impossibility).
  • In 21 districts in Wood County Ohio, Obama received 100% of the votes where GOP inspectors were illegally removed from their polling locations – and not one single vote was recorded for Romney.  (Another statistical impossibility).
  • In Wood County Ohio, 106,258 voted in a county with only 98,213 eligible voters.
  • In St. Lucie County, FL, there were 175,574 registered eligible voters but 247,713 votes were cast.
  • The National SEAL Museum , a polling location in St. Lucie County, FL had a 158% voter turnout.
  • Palm Beach County , FL had a 141% voter turnout.
  • In Ohio County, Obama won by 108% of the total number of eligible voters.

NOTE: Obama won in every state that did not require a Photo ID and lost in every state that did require a Photo ID in order to vote.

Employment v Unemployment – December 2012

The Unemployment Rate is out again today with no change at 7.8% (apparently November 2012 was revised up to 7.8%), but there was an actual uptick in the labor force (155,319,000 up to 155,511,000).  The Labor Force Participation Rate remained unchanged at an anemic 63.6% (down from 65.7% at the start of Obama’s 1st term).

We can be heartened at the fact that another major exit from the work force did not occur.

Halt Donations To Representative Peter King / Governor Chris Christie

New York Representative Peter King callously called for donors to stop sending money to House GOP members… …once again playing into the Democrats and Statist Media’s hands for dividing the Party.

Obama’s campaign commercial star Chris Christie similarly berated the Republican House for not passing the bill and claimed there was no pork in the bill, “Shame on You! Shame on Congress!”

Obama and the RINO-Loaded / Democrat-Controlled Senate created a pork-laden bill for Superstorm Sandy relief and sent it to the House to tell the American People that business-as-usual will continue in the Federal Government.  The House wisely said, ‘Not so fast!’

Umm, no pork, eh?

The NY Post reported:

“The pork-barrel feast includesmore than $8 million to buy cars and equipment for the Homeland Security and Justice departments. It also includes a whopping $150 million for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to dole out to fisheries in Alaska and $2 million for the Smithsonian Institution to repair museum roofs in DC. An eye-popping $13 billion would go to “mitigation” projects to prepare for future storms. Other big-ticket items in the bill include $207 million for the VA Manhattan Medical Center; $41 million to fix up eight military bases along the storm’s path, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; $4 million for repairs at Kennedy Space Center in Florida; $3.3 million for the Plum Island Animal Disease Center and $1.1 million to repair national cemeteries.”

That’s $13.4 Billion by my count.  There’s more

  • $58.8 million for forest restoration on private land.
  • $197 million “to… protect coastal ecosystems and habitat impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
  • $10.78 billion for public transportation, most of which is allocated to future construction and improvements, not disaster relief.
  • $17 billion for wasteful Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), a program that has become notorious for its use as a backdoor earmark program.

Is that really $41.4 Billion of a $60.4 Billion bill that isn’t directly related to Hurricane Sandy?  Why yes; it is!  Like the so-called Farm Bill which has little to do with Farming, the Superstorm Sandy Relief bill has little to do with immediate Hurricane relief.

Okay, Mr. King, you think donations should be halted. You’re right; I agree.  They should be halted to opportunists like you and Chris Christie!

Chris Christie, Peter King - 01

Here’s the text of the bill on GPO.gov… …and more PORK that’s not for the people of NYC:

  • Emergency Watershed Protection Program, $125,055,000
  • Procurement of Ammunition, Army, $1,310,000
  • Defense Working Capital Funds, $24,200,000
  • Investigations to expedite studies of flood and storm damage reduction related natural disasters, $50,000,000
  • $2,000,000,000 shall be used for mitigation projects to reduce future risk and vulnerabilities

Yes, some of that may be necessary, but is in no way hindering the family victims of the storm.  And Finally…

  • That $2,902,000,000 of the funds provided under this heading shall be used to reduce future flood risk in ways that will support the long-term sustainability of the coastal ecosystem and communities and reduce the economic costs and risks associated with large-scale flood and storm events that occurred in 2012 along the Gulf Coast and Atlantic Coast within the boundaries of the North Atlantic and Mississippi Valley Divisions of the Corps that were affected by Hurricanes Sandy and Isaac…

Wasn’t Hurricane Isaac Bush’s fault?
